Achievements
VTC received a number of awards in recognition of its performance in environmental sustainability, energy saving and occupational health and safety.

CLP Smart Energy Award
VTC received the Energy Management Award at the CLP Smart Energy Award 2025. This recognition, following the Sustainable Vision Award in 2023, affirms VTC’s performance on realising its green visions into results through effective energy conservations and sustainable practices. The award demonstrates VTC's continued commitment to fostering environmental awareness and building a greener future.

Hong Kong Occupational Safety & Health Award
VTC received its first-ever Outstanding Award in Safety Performance at the 24th Hong Kong Occupational Safety & Health Award Forum. This honour, presented by the Occupational Safety and Health Council, recognises VTC's deep commitment and effective implementation of occupational health and safety systems.

Indoor Air Quality Certification Scheme
Indoor Air Quality Certification Scheme
VTC was awarded “Good Class” Premises (Whole Building) for New Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Objectives and 10 Highest Participation Award under the Environmental Protection Department’s IAQ Certification Scheme in 2025. These awards recognise participants’ outstanding performance in achieving good IAQ.

Awards in the Charter of External Lighting
16 VTC premises received the Diamond, Platinum and Gold Awards in the Charter of External Lighting implemented by the Environment and Ecology Bureau, recognising our commitment to energy saving and fostering a better nighttime environment.

Indoor Air Quality Certification Scheme
VTC was awarded “Good Class” Premises (Whole Building) for New IAQ Objectives and 10 Highest Participation Award in the Indoor Air Quality Certificate Award Ceremony 2024. The ceremony was organised by the Environmental Protection Department to recognise participants’ performances on achieving good indoor air quality.

Friends of EcoPark
Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi)
VTC was awarded by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) as one of the “2019 Friends of EcoPark 環保園之友” for our commitment in waste reduction, waste recycling and caring for the environment. VTC was also the awardee of the year from 2012 to 2016.

Charters
VTC is committed to promoting green campuses, carbon reduction, and occupational health and safety. We continuously raise environmental awareness and cultivate a sustainable, safe, and healthy campus culture among students and staff.

Starting from 1 June 2024, the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) launched the “Waste Reduction and Recycling Charter” to encourage business and community organisations to foster recycling habits and reduce waste disposal for environmental protection and wise use of land resources.
3 VTC sites joined the Waste Reduction and Recycling Charter 2024.

Energy Saving Charter is launched by Environment and Ecology Bureau to encourage business and community organisations to save energy.
- To maintain an average indoor temperature between 24 -26°C during the summer months
- To switch off electrical appliances and systems when not in use and procure energy efficient electrical appliances
- To engage staff and students to adopt the above energy saving practices together
- To promote energy data transparency, and share energy saving measures and achievements
- To promote building energy saving retrofit
27 VTC sites joined the Energy Saving Charter 2025.
4T Charter was launched by the Government under the 4T framework, namely target, timeline, transparency and together.
The 4T partners are encouraged to set their energy saving targets and timelines and to share their existing and planned energy saving measures.
- To maintain an average indoor temperature between 24 - 26°C during the summer months
- To set energy saving target with a timeline
- To ensure transparency on energy saving result and building energy data
- To encourage inhabitants (including staff, students, occupants, tenants) to work together on the above energy saving target
28 VTC sites joined the 4T Charter 2025.

The VTC has signed up for the Government's Energy Saving Charter on "No Incandescent Light Bulbs (ILB)" launched by EMSD, with a commitment to refrain from procuring targeted ILB and adopt more energy-efficient lighting on our premises.

The VTC pledged to switch off unnecessary external lighting installations from 23:00 to 07:00 to minimise nuisance and energy wastage by signing up the Charter on External Lighting launched by the Environment Bureau.

The VTC has signed up for the Food Wise Charter launched by the former Environment Bureau to promote the avoidance and reduction of the food waste generation at source. We pledge to encourage behavioural changes that engender respect for and cherishing of our food and natural resources.

At VTC, Occupational Health and Safety is a core value. We have signed the "Occupational Safety Charter", initiated by the Labour Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Council in 1996, affirming our commitment to continuously promote and implement an effective occupational safety management system to achieve higher standards of Occupational Health and Safety.
We embrace the Charter’s spirit “Safety is a Shared Responsibility” to encourage active collaboration between employers and employees to create safer, healthier workplaces across VTC.

Pledges
VTC also pledged to support different community environmental programmes.

VTC had enthusiastically embraced the annual global event, Earth Hour, co-ordinated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), to turn off lights in campus buildings and urge our staff and students to participate.

The VTC has been supporting the No Air Con Night organised by the Green Sense. This annual energy saving event aims to promote green practices and encourage people to be a responsible member of the earth village.

The VTC participated in the "Yan Oi Tong Plastic Recycling Partnership Scheme" organised by Yan Oi Tong EcoPark Plastic Resources Recycling Centre in support of source separation and plastics recycling.
